Common Name: Two-leaf Toothwort
Latin name: Cardamine diphylla
Bloom Time: A Spring ephemeral, meaning that it blooms mid-April to mid-May before most deciduous trees leaf out; dormant in Summer
Location: (1) Between the Wildflower Garden and the First Overlook (2) Near the Picnic Table
Attracts: Bees collect the pollen; flea beetles feed on the foliage; it is a host plant for the larvae of two types of Butterflies
Special Note: Two-leaf Toothwort has a stem with two leaves opposite each other. Cut-leafed Toothwort (Cardamine concatenate) has a stem with a whorl of three leaves, each with deeply cut lobes.
