Common Name: Wild Ginger

Latin Name: Asarum canadense

Bloom Time: Spring (April, May); Solitary, brownish-purple, bell-shaped flower, at the base of the leaves (lift leaf to see)

Location: Nature Trail, near the Last Overlook

Attracts: Pollinators (flies and beetles); host plant for larvae of Pipevine Swallowtail 

Special Note: Both the leaves and rhizomes give off a ginger-like aroma when broken or crushed.
