Southern Sundrop 

(Oenothera fruticosa)

A native species, this cheerful summer bloomer forms spreading clumps that grow one to two feet high. The bright yellow flowers have a satiny sheen and prominent, X-shaped stigmas (the part that receives pollen grains), and contrast sharply with the shiny green foliage.
