Mary Anderson 

Mr. Anderson was born in Charleston, West Virginia and is an only child. His father worked for Burrough’s Corp. and moved his family to Philadelphia, Miami, and Washington D.C. Mr. Anderson attended Williams College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics. He was trained as an actuary and worked for five various insurance companies; the last being First Colony Life in Lynchburg. Mr. Anderson retired in 1986 and worked for Randolph Macon Woman’s College for one year. Mr. Anderson’s first wife died in 1986 and he has four children and eight grandchildren. 

Mrs. Anderson was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and has one half brother She earned her bachelor of electrical engineering from Pratt Institute and worked for Bell Laboratories until her children were born. After her children went off to college, Mrs. Anderson returned to Bell Laboratories and retired in 1989. Mrs. Anderson’s first husband died in 1983 and she has three children and four grandchildren. 

The Anderson’s have known each other for over 40 years and were married in 1989. Mr. Anderson enjoys reading, traveling, music, puzzles, and has been very involved in volunteer work. He has served as the President for Meals on Wheels in Lynchburg and has been a board member of Adult Care Center. Mrs. Anderson has also been active in her community. She belongs to PEO, several book clubs, and the Woman’s Club, and has volunteered for the Daily Bread and Virginia Baptist Hospital. She enjoys puzzles and traveling. The Anderson’s are active members of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Anderson just completed a term as moderator of Presbyterian Women.
