Connie was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Growing up, Connie attended private schools. After graduating from high school in New Orleans she attended the University of Texas, where she attained her B.A. in French. Connie and her husband, Carl Fredrick Dahlberg, had two daughters together. Mr. Dahlberg passed away in 2008 after 46 years of marriage. Connie and Carl owned St. Mary Galvanizing Company. Carl was CEO and Connie was the Corporate Secretary. Their family has grown now with the addition of five grandchildren, two boys and three girls.
Connie enjoys exercising, volunteering, gardening, and travelling. Although she was Episcopalian most all of her married life, she now attends Peakland United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for 14 years in New Orleans and served on the Altar Guild at Rayne Memorial Methodist Church. Connie was President of the Board of Poydras Home in New Orleans, which began as an orphanage in 1817 to children whose parents had died of Yellow Fever. In the 1950’s they switched to Elder Care. Connie is moved here from New Orleans and is excited to be living closer to both her daughters; one is South Carolina and the other in Roanoke.
At Westminster Canterbury, Connie has served as co-chair of the Welcoming Committee and as a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, and the Nature Trail Committee. She is a volunteer at the Presbyterian Homes and serves on the Board of L’Arch Blue Ridge Mountains. She is a member of the Lynchburg Historical Society and is a grand-buddy for a VES student which is lots of fun.
