Bob was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. He graduated from Roanoke College with a BS degree in Economies. He then served two years in the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers during the Korean War before completing his education at UNC Chapel Hill. While there he received his Master of Business Administration degree which served him well in his 35 year career with American Electric Power. Bob has been very active in civic affairs, including 17 years on the Centra Hospital Board and six years on Lynchburg City Council. Bob died 2018.
Kitty is from Staunton, Virginia. She attended Mary Washington and transferred in her junior year to UNC Chapel Hill where she received her B.A. degree in Sociology and met her future husband Bob. Kitty’s mom, Catherine Wright, resided at Westminster Canterbury for 15 years until her death in 2000.
Bob and Kitty have two children; a son who lives in California and a daughter who lives in Richmond, Virginia. Kitty continues to be active in tennis, her church, and the DAR. They both have been active members at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church since moving to Lynchburg in 1977
