KEN & ANNETTE SLUSHER
Ken was born and grew up in Bedford, VA and attended Bedford High School. He joined the U. S. Coast Guard in 1961, and retired following 20 years of service returning to the central Virginia area to attend CVCC Then came a short stint as a Radiologic Technologist at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was employed by Falwell Aviation as Chief Flight Instructor and Charter Pilot from 1986 till his retirement in 2005.
Ken has three daughters from his first marriage to Marge. After retirement. He moved to Westminster Canterbury in June of 2014 with his wife Peggy,
who retired from Centra Health following over 40 years at Virginia Baptist Hospital. We moved here from our home in Forest, VA.
Peggy succumbed to complications from vascular dementia in January of 2019.
Annette was born in Duplin County, North Carolina and grew up in Wilmington, N. C. She attended New Hanover High School. She met her husband Roy who was from Amherst County, VA., and while he was stationed at Fort Fisher, Air Force Base. After leaving military service and returning to Amherst, Co, Annette attended Virginia Tech in preparation for her career of teaching special education classes at The Central Virginia Training Center. Annette taught at CVTC 34 years while Roy was employed by General Electric/ Ericsson. Roy passed away in 2014. Annette has three children, 2 girls and a boy, all living in the local area. She moved to Westminster Canterbury in 2015.
Ken and Annette met when she moved into WC. We attended many activities here and served on committees together as well as volunteering on and off campus.
Annette and Ken were married February 19th 2022.. Since then they have enjoyed traveling, gardening, dancing and many other activities offered here at WC.
