Randy Presgraves

Randy Presgraves, a native of Luray, Virginia, went directly from high school into the United States Air Force.  After four years of active duty he joined the reserves giving a total of 40 years of service.  In 1953, while stationed in Texas, he married Marge Marrow (a WC resident in Drinkard), from Front Royal, Virginia.  They have two children and three grandchildren.  Their daughter Susan Robinson and her husband Scott live in Lynchburg and son Allen and wife Jan reside in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Upon leaving active duty from the Air Force, Randy entered Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where in 1960, he received a B.A. in business administration.  Immediately employed by Travelers Insurance, he worked for the next 30 years in insurance claims.  During those years, company transfers resulted in seven moves with one stint in Lynchburg.  At retirement in 1990, Randy and Marge were residing in Richmond and in 2016 moved to Lynchburg to be near daughter Susan.

If you ask Randy about his hobbies, he will mention playing golf and then quickly add what he calls “RVing”.  Randy and Marge, in their 40-foot, four-sided traveling home, covered the entire United States camping recreation vehicle style in the lower 48.  He remembers their time in Southern California and Colorado as opportunities for interesting adventures, but the return home always reminded them of the beauty of the Commonwealth and the pleasure of living in Virginia.
