Margaret (Gail) Scott

A native of Welch, West Virginia, Gail graduated from Welch High School and three years later received a Registered Nurse certificate from Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia.  She worked for 20 years as a R.N. in a variety of settings, while also accumulating credits toward a college degree. 

In 1976, Gail was accepted by the University of North Carolina School of Nursing in Chapel Hill and one year later completed its Nurse Practitioner program.  As an advanced practice registered nurse, Gail first worked at Southwestern State Hospital in Marion, Virginia, followed by specializing in geriatrics with Family Physicians of Marion, Virginia.

Gail married Harry Scott (deceased 2010) in 1964 and has one son, David K. Scott who lives in Lynchburg.  After 23 years of employment as a Nurse Practitioner, Gail retired in 2000 and with her husband moved to Florida.  She has resided there until returning to Virginia to live at Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg.

       Gail’s many interests and hobbies include reading and painting in both watercolors and acrylics.  For exercise she enjoys walking, Tia Chi, and Yoga.  An active volunteer she has participated in a number of mission trips, both domestic and internationally, some through her church and others with Habitat for Humanity
