Mary Wood

Mary Wood was born in Bedford, VA and has lived in Lynchburg for most of her adult life. She attended Bedford High School, but transferred to Liberty High School her senior year and was part of their first graduating class. Following high school, she attended and graduated from the Virginia Baptist School of Nursing in 1968. She worked at VBH as a registered nurse for 42 years.

 She married Buddy Wood in 1969. They had two children, Jeff and Kelly. Jeff currently lives outside of Dallas with his wife Keena and two children, Coleman and Ryleigh. Kelly is married to Dan Reichard III and lives in Lynchburg with three of their four children, Ethan, Ella and Holden. Gabrielle is currently working for Johns  Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

 Mary’s husband passed away suddenly in July of 2021. They were married for over 50 years and she’s still adjusting to life without him. She’s leaning into time with her family and exploring the hobbies she enjoys including genealogy, gardening, baking, and travel. She’s looking forward to joining the Westminster
