Born in Washington, DC, Debbie loves it when people ask her what state she was born in. Living in the Washington, DC for most of her life, Debbie and her husband Bill (deceased 2021) moved to Forest in 2013. They loved the area and Debbie decided to stay and make the ease and security of Westminster Canterbury her home for her new life.
After graduating from high school, Debbie went to work at the Securities and Exchange Commission. It was the beginning of a career that led her to a degree from George Mason University, becoming a paralegal and working in the areas of tax law, white collar crime, bankruptcy, real estate, litigation, labor law, employment law, and as a corporate in-house while employed by the federal government, a labor union at AFL-CIO headquarters, private corporations, sole practitioners, a credit union, and the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs during the Reagan Administration.
Debbie was the President of a national paralegal association and a guest speaker at education conferences on ethics, the future of the paralegal profession, and paralegal regulation. She has been published in various professional journals and bar and paralegal association newsletters. Debbie also wrote a paper titled "The Ethical Wall - Its Application to Paralegals” which was published through Westlaw, a legal research industry leader.
Debbie’s interests included car racing and quilting. She won races competing on road courses and national awards for her quilting. While she has retired from racing and slowed down on her lifelong love of quilting, she is looking forward to traveling the world.
