Bobby & Betty Brown

Bob was born in Lynchburg and graduated from E.C Glass High School.  He is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Bob is the former owner and president of C.L. Lewis & Co. which joined forces with J.E. Jamerson & Sons Company in 2014 to create Jamerson Lewis Construction. Bob’s extensive knowledge and experience in building contracting and construction was a great asset to WC’s Board of Trustees during his tenure (2014 – 2019).

Betty was born and privileged to have been raised in Nelson County.   After high school she pursued undergraduate and graduate degrees from Radford University and began a career in education serving as a classroom teacher and elementary administrator for 17 years, finishing her career at James River Day School. She is proud to say she taught the grandchildren of several WC residents. 

Bob & Betty have been married for 54 years and are proud parents of three, a son who resides with his family in Amherst, a daughter in Pittsburgh who is taking a recess from working as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse to raise their four talented and dear grandchildren, and a daughter who loves living in Brooklyn and is Director of Operations at a charter school there. 

Bob enjoys playing golf and fishing.  Betty has always loved gardening and is blessed to continue that tradition on the Garden level at WC.   When not in the garden, she likes to play bridge (the non-serious kind) and Marvelous Mahjong. They enjoy traveling, with Scotland and Ireland ranking as two of their favorites.
