Glenn was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. He attended Roanoke College where he made friends with a classmate named Peggy Kiley. He invited her to be his date at the cast party for a theatrical production of Once Upon a Mattress. Glenn was cast as Prince Dauntless. The night was a resounding success. The Prince got his girl and he and Peggy have been together ever since.
Peggy was born in Norfolk, Virginia and still has family in the Tidewater area. She is a natural leader being the oldest of six children. At 13 years old she and her family moved to Roanoke where she finished schooling.
After they married Glenn and Peggy lived in Roanoke. In 1981 when Glenn accepted a job as an investment professional at Central Fidelity they moved to Lynchburg. They have two children. While their children were young Peggy enjoyed volunteering with their schools and being a home maker. Their daughter Nina Dillon Cassada and her husband Dr. David Cassada live in the area with their granddaughter Kiley. Their son Glenn Dillon Jr. lives in Highland Park, Il, a Chicago Suburb, with his husband Barry Tsai. They love spending time with their family and see them often. That love includes Glenn’s cousin, resident Betty Blue, who lives across the hall from him on 5th floor Creekside.
Glenn has worked for several financial institutions in the area including Crestar, Bank of the James and Stifel. Glenn is always community minded and has been on the board of numerous nonprofits in town. He spent six years in the Army reserves. He retired from banking nine years ago. Glenn’s retirement has given him time to focus on his other joys in life, golf, pickle ball, tennis, and playing bridge.
Once the children were out of the home Peggy went back to the drawing board…. or more precisely the painting easel. She has been a local Watercolor artist for over 25 years. Her recent work, Swinging, was selected for the Virginia Watercolor Society 2024. You may find her playing Mahjong when she doesn’t have a paint brush in her hand.
