After raising four children, she studied at Liberty University. Her husband, Bob Mateer (deceased 2015), was a career banker until he joined the Liberty University faculty in the Business School, where he taught Finance for 28 years. Marilyn enjoys secretarial work and was employed at LU, Centra Health, and Randolph-Macon Woman’s College before retirement.
Marilyn enjoys serving at her church, Mercy Presbyterian, which will be moving to a new building on Route 811 in Forest in August 2024. Marilyn loves the outdoors, reading, gardening, cooking and being grandma to 42 grandchildren.
