Dr. John Michael(Mike) Perry

Mike was born in Texas but lived most of his life in the Southeast.  His mother was resident Emma Perry who lived at WC in the 1990s and early 2000s.  Emma was from Chatham, Virginia and Mike spent many childhood days with extended family in Pittsylvania country.  He graduated high school in Alabama and attend Samford University for his undergraduate.  For medical school he joined the Crimson Tide and attend the University of Alabama.  The great state of Alabama not only educated him, it also put love in his life.  While interning in Birmingham he met a young teacher name Lee Rollow and she became his wife.

After marrying, they moved to Cherry Point, NC where Mike was a Navy Flight Surgeon for the Marine Corps. After serving his country, Chapel Hill, NC was their home as Mike was resident in Pathology.  In 1971 Mike, Lee and their children John and Jennifer moved to Lynchburg, VA and Mike became a Pathologist for Lynchburg and the surrounding areas until retirement in 2002. 

His early retirement days enabled Mike to engage in another passion and he became a Master gardener. But these days he spends more time at the lake with his fishing gear and a small boat.  Daughter Jennifer and family lives in Lynchburg. Son John and his family lives in Nashville, TN.  July of 2023 brought change to his life, his beloved wife Lee passed away. 

Mike is moving to WC to engage with the community he has been part of for over 50 years. He counts many residents as friends already. Please give him a hearty welcome to Life refreshed at WC.
