David and Linda met in the St. John’s Episcopal Church choir in 2000. They married in 2007 with the choir singing at their wedding in the chapel. They have three children from prior marriages: William, Kristina and Jennifer, and have four grandchildren. They have traveled together throughout Europe and South America collecting wonderful memories.
Linda Santner Westenburger attended Sam Houston State University where she received a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, in piano performance and a Master of Arts studying with Dr. John Paul. She received the Louise Powell Outstanding Pianist Award in 1977. Linda was elected to Pi Kappa Lambda, a national honorary society for music majors and was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a fraternity for women in music. She has taught piano on the college level as well as the private level and performed concerts and recitals in Texas and Virginia. She has served as organist\choirmaster for many churches.
Linda attended Washington and Lee School of Law and practiced law for twenty-three years. As a member of the Virginia State Bar, she served as chair of the General Practice Section. Of the many boards she served on, she is especially proud of serving twice on the D-Day Memorial Board. She served on the Leave a Legacy Committee and the Lynchburg Estate Council. She retired in 1991 from law and returned to music, playing the Schumann Concerto at University of Lynchburg in 2022 and recitals at her home. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Oakwood Garden Club.
Dave attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Computer Science from the University of Virginia. He retired in 2016 after 41 years with General Electric-Ericsson-M/Acom-Tyco-Harris spending the last 29 years in Lynchburg.
A cradle-to-grave Episcopalian, Dave has served on the vestries at St. John’s and Trinity and on the Diocesan Communications committee during the pandemic assisting churches across the Diocese in setting up a streaming internet presence. While at Trinity, Dave managed the restoration and documentation of the cemetery, renewing plot markers, updating plot grids, and directing the restoration of the lawns and driveway.
Dave is an avid Hokie fan and volunteers on the IOA ramp ministry and has assisted on several Habitat for Humanity houses in the past.
