Why should I turn in volunteer hours?
We want to be able to recognize our volunteers for the important work that they do.
Having proof of our volunteer value helps us to keep our tax exempt status and saves us money when we purchase items.
Adding the value of volunteers increases the bottom line of our Financial Statements.
Including volunteer time when applying for grants helps to improve our chances of receiving the grants and if we are able to prove our volunteer value it gives us a heads up over our competition.
Funders and donors want to know what resources we have received and from where. Funders see volunteer input as a measure of effectiveness.
How do I turn in hours?
There are forms in the rack in the main lobby but you don’t have to use them. You can either use the form or a regular piece of paper, drop it in the mail slot marked “Volunteers” or bring it to me or email me your hours. You may also email me your information.
I need hours broken down to what you did. Example: B&G Committee – X number of hours, Residents Council – X number of hours, Bingo Calling – X number of hours, etc.
.25 equals 15 minutes; .5 equals 30 minutes; .75 equals 45 minutes
The same for volunteering in the community. I do not need what you did but name of each organization. Example: Habitat – X number of hours, Meals on Wheels – X number of hours, D-Day Memorial – X number of hours, etc. Please don’t just put church, but list the name of the Church
When do I turn in hours?
By the 5th of the month for the previous month. Example: By January 5th I need all December hours.
Do you want them each month?
Yes, please turn them in each month and not wait and turn in several months at a time.
If you have not been turning in hours, please start!
The best way to ensure that volunteer efforts
do not get lost, forgotten or unrecognized is to record
