Welcoming Committee

The Welcoming Committee’s purpose is to facilitate a smooth transition for incoming Independent Living residents after they move in and begin to adjust to living at WC.  Mentors volunteer their time to do the things mentioned below for them.

Responsibilities:

• Works with the Marketing department to ensure that the new residents have a coordinated move-in experience.

• Maintains a booklet that summarizes the assistance for daily-living tasks that Westminster provides and the way to access these services.

• Assigns a mentor to each new resident to furnish needed assistance upon arrival and for subsequent days of adjustment.

Reviews the booklet and encourages the resident to read the Resident Handbook

Invites and accompanies the new resident to a meal at one of the dining venues.

Offers to give the resident a detailed tour of the facility.

• Assists Residents’ Council in planning a welcoming reception and a formal introduction to the Westminster Canterbury community.
