History and Background
Westminster Canterbury
Resident Website
Resident Website
A small group of Westminster Canterbury residents, with Administration approval and encouragement, began the Resident Website development in 2015. Google Sites, a free site development tool and a free hosting site, was chosen. The website was intended to supplement and enhance the existing resident communication vehicles. It has met that intention well.
Development of the Westminster Canterbury Resident Website began in 2015 and was officially launched in February of 2017. It was then complicated by the fact that Google, in 2018, replaced their original “Classic” software. Thus began a conversion/replacement and improvement project into the “New Google Sites”
The history of the resident website thus involved:
Learning the fundamentals of the “Classic Version”
The design of content for the site and its implementation
Learning the fundamentals of the “New Google Sites”
The conversion to the “New Google Sites”
The ongoing development through to the present day
Now anyone wanting to work with the website has an easier time. “New Google Sites” is easier to learn through extensive tutorials available on the internet.
On each webpage footer (see below) there is a "Site Help" link that takes you to a published article from the Marketing magazine "Chimes". It shines another light on the website's history.
